Inflexion – Buyout House of the Year

Inflexion Private Equity (a Wild West client for many years, ever since we designed their new logo) have triumphed at The Private Equity Awards, hosted by the BVCA (the British Venture Capital Association) and Real Deals, being named Buyout House of the Year.

The judges praised Inflexion for its outstanding performance in what was a challenging year for the private equity industry.

Key achievements included the market beating returns on the exit of Viking Moorings, the ability to raise a co-investment fund and securing new investments in exciting growth businesses.

Winning against prestigious competition, including HgCapital, LDC and Charterhouse, the judges said their decision was unanimous.

New Year, and already, lots of new sites

Just in case you wanted to know more about WildWest Design’s current work on websites (of many types and descriptions), all of this list are new already for this year.

www.satyacapital.com
www.barclaysfootball.com (that’s the Around the World in 90 Minutes competition site)
www.clearlybusiness.com
www.resoluteassetmanagement.com

On top of that, we’re working on makeovers to www.indicusadvisors.com and the UK’s Number One site for contractors and those founding limited companies, www.carringtonaccountancy.com

We’re proud of our finance and investment track record, which covers companies in private equity and property as well as those listed here.

If you feel that your website could be doing more for you (whether as a showcase, or to keep investors, stakeholders  and journalists better informed, or both), please do get in touch!

One thing leads to many more…

From the new Alcentra/BNY Mellon site

From the new Alcentra/BNY Mellon site

We’re certain that we can’t claim the credit, but it does have to be said that our clients – and particularly those in finance and business services – have managed to retain the entrepreneurial spirit, even through the downturn which we have (and still are in our view) experiencing.

So, while new clients have been harder to get than ever before, it’s been good to have recommendations (either because our work has been visible or because one of our existing clients has been kind enough to refer us to colleagues and friends) which have been cemented on the basis of the work that we have done elsewhere.

Our new site for the American operation of Alcentra (a long-standing and valued client of Wild West Design here in London) adds resources from BNY Mellon, and is already looking very successful.

Further from home, our work for Satya Capital, which we referred to in an earlier post, was noted by a new company working to bring investment into southern Sudan, and it has been our great pleasure to help them (though too early to reveal our work!)

Recent projects for us have included press advertising, web banners, complete websites, identity projects, display systems, corporate and product literature of different kinds, direct marketing initiatives and more! It has been a busy year already, but we’re always pleased to welcome new clients and the challenges they bring.

If you would like to see more of our work of course, just visit the home page of our website and view or print our credentials document, or get in touch with us directly.

Satya Capital – an investment company working in Africa

Our new web site for Satya Capital is now on line

Our new web site for Satya Capital is now on line

Satya Capital is an investment company working to provide development capital to expanding and emerging companies in Africa.

Now, it has a new web site to promote its activities and to showcase its work, designed, hosted and maintained by Wild West.

Satya Capital is a company investing in Africa and the huge potential of that continent, and it is doing so with the advantage of some in-depth knowledge of vital success factors. The company targets investments of between $20m and $50m, and has some unique experience in working with companies in the region, most notably through the establishment and growth of Celtel.

Satya would be pleased to hear from companies and others who may be able to introduce investment opportunities. Satya is one of a growing number of private investment companies choosing Wild West for promotional and communications work.

What more do you need from us?

We’ve implemented a new web site. At the moment, it’s a simple holding site – in line with our bold new look. You can reach it on our old address (www.wildwildwest.co.uk) or on our new one – www.designwildwest.com

The pictures which you view through the WW device are samples of our work – from the ribbons on the Barclays Premier League trophy, through to our web site for Stock Spirits.

It is just a holding page really, but you can check our address, view or download our (very smart!) new credentials document or (of course) link through from the site to this blog (and we’ll be updating our blog header very soon too).

If you would like to see more from us – either on the web site or on this blog – then please let us know. At the moment we’re debating what we feature on the web site – our past award-winning work, case studies on topics as widely different as corporate naming or annual reports, or simply the kind comments we’ve had from our clients over the years. Please do get in touch if you have suggestions or comments!

And if you’ve not dealt with us before, maybe now is the time to think about whether we can help you? As you’ll see – in corporate design, in web and electronic marketing, and in sport sponsorship activation – we have a pretty good track record. Why not go to our web site now and take a look at our brand spanking new credentials document? We hope it will convince you to get in touch.

You only do it once a year. The Annual Report

Standard Annual Reports

Standard Annual Reports

Every year, you have the opportunity to put the case for your company, to analyse its trading position and the measures it is taking to ensure continued profitability and growth. There’s no question that the Annual Report is an important document.

It will be of vital importance to shareholders and other investors too, if you have them, but many other groups will study the document, for reassurance or the reverse. Your staff, your customers, analysts and journalists, members of trade bodies, those who supply you with services and products – these are just some of the possible groups who will be interested in what you have to say and how you make your case.

Wild West has worked on annual reports for two of the largest and most successful organisations in marine insurance for some years now. The Standard Clubs of London and Bermuda provide mutual insurance to a large percentage of the world’s shipping, making sure that international trade can continue to thrive.

We’d like to think that our design and presentation input has helped these organisations – and the company that manages them, Charles Taylor & Co – to grow and thrive.

Web Site Statistics – A New Twist

Putting privileged information on your web site, probably in a password-protected area, has advantages beyond treating special clients in a special way. Because each password is linked to a particular person or company, you can track very closely statistics like:

- how often did each one visit the site (if at all)?
- what files did they download? (and so what are the hot topics for that individual?)
- what pages did they visit?

These kind of statistics can be interesting when trying to assess how and why shareholders, investors, journalists and others behave as they do, and can be important for your sales and management processes, as well as providing valuable input to a sales team or marketing campaign.

SQL Injections – Is Your Site Safe?

We were alerted to the potential compromise of database information via the web when we started working with Secerno, a company whose business is database security. Basically, if there is the potential for user interaction through your site, then there is also a high risk that a hacker might ‘inject’ his own SQL code and download information that you would wish to keep safe – like passwords, clients, products.

If you are password-protecting databased information, (making it available via a closed user area perhaps) you may have locked the doors, but you will need to check that the windows are closed too. Damage from SQL injection is just one of the issues that Secerno helps protect against.

Wild West clients too, (including our various banking, investment and private equity clients) are safeguarded against this very prevalent form of attack. Read more here: http://www.secerno.com/?pg=SQL-Injection

The Tip of the Iceberg

The home page of the Indicus Advisors' web site
Looks like a very simple little web site, doesn’t it? But the web site we created for Indicus Advisors is a little like the wardrobe door that leads to Narnia in the CS Lewis books; there’s a whole lot more than you would imagine behind that simple entrance.

The reason is that Indicus want to give information primarily to a select group of investors and potential investors, and to be recognised as a member of either group, you’ll need to apply to Indicus for a password which will give you access to the privileged areas in the site.

If you invest in one fund, then your password allows you access to information about it. Invest in more, and your password opens up more doors.

A site like this demands care in its creation and in its maintenance too. But it can pay important dividends (figuratively!) in building important links between a company and the people who really matter in the market.
