BNY Mellon and Alcentra site goes live

The investment portfolio from the Alcentra and BNY Mellon website

The investment portfolio from the Alcentra and BNY Mellon website

Alcentra are an investment company and, like some other leading investment and finance companies, one who have had a long-standing record of working with Wild West Design. Their new US operation is one which brings together the resources of BNY Mellon with Alcentra’s expertise to provide a new option in mezzanine finance. The new partnership will provide senior and subordinated debt and equity finance to mid-market companies in North America.

Read about the success of Alcentra over the years since its first investment (in 1999) at www.alcentra.com

Alternatively, and especially if you would like to find out more about Alcentra’s new collaborative investment venture with BNY Mellon, go to their brand new web site at the following address:

http://mezzanine.alcentra.com/

Alcentra was one of the first finance and investment companies to work with Wild West. Since then of course, they have been joined by many others, including Inflexion, Indicus Advisors, Satya Capital and Duke Street. They all appreciate our knowledge of this complex market and our ability to keep them in touch with the investors whose funds are so vital.

Satya Capital – an investment company working in Africa

Our new web site for Satya Capital is now on line

Our new web site for Satya Capital is now on line

Satya Capital is an investment company working to provide development capital to expanding and emerging companies in Africa.

Now, it has a new web site to promote its activities and to showcase its work, designed, hosted and maintained by Wild West.

Satya Capital is a company investing in Africa and the huge potential of that continent, and it is doing so with the advantage of some in-depth knowledge of vital success factors. The company targets investments of between $20m and $50m, and has some unique experience in working with companies in the region, most notably through the establishment and growth of Celtel.

Satya would be pleased to hear from companies and others who may be able to introduce investment opportunities. Satya is one of a growing number of private investment companies choosing Wild West for promotional and communications work.

Web Site Statistics – A New Twist

Putting privileged information on your web site, probably in a password-protected area, has advantages beyond treating special clients in a special way. Because each password is linked to a particular person or company, you can track very closely statistics like:

- how often did each one visit the site (if at all)?
- what files did they download? (and so what are the hot topics for that individual?)
- what pages did they visit?

These kind of statistics can be interesting when trying to assess how and why shareholders, investors, journalists and others behave as they do, and can be important for your sales and management processes, as well as providing valuable input to a sales team or marketing campaign.

SQL Injections – Is Your Site Safe?

We were alerted to the potential compromise of database information via the web when we started working with Secerno, a company whose business is database security. Basically, if there is the potential for user interaction through your site, then there is also a high risk that a hacker might ‘inject’ his own SQL code and download information that you would wish to keep safe – like passwords, clients, products.

If you are password-protecting databased information, (making it available via a closed user area perhaps) you may have locked the doors, but you will need to check that the windows are closed too. Damage from SQL injection is just one of the issues that Secerno helps protect against.

Wild West clients too, (including our various banking, investment and private equity clients) are safeguarded against this very prevalent form of attack. Read more here: http://www.secerno.com/?pg=SQL-Injection

An End to Innovation?

Inflexion Website
Everyone in business is talking about how deep this recession might be. For every green shoot that’s seen, there’s someone else who will call it a ‘dead cat bounce’.

No matter where you are on the spectrum of optimism and pessimism, you have to acknowledge that there are companies out there who are continuing to make things happen – to find new opportunities for their products, to develop new products and services, or just to improve on the quality that they are able to offer to the market.

Take a look at our client Inflexion. Their business is about investing in companies, and helping them realise potential value. If you go to their site (at www.inflexion.com) you’ll be able to view a remarkable range of investments. They have a hand in companies working in fields from offshore exploration to processed cheese.

Some, like clothing retailer Jack Wills, you will have heard of. Others may be a closed book.

Not all of them will make it big, but if the Inflexion track record is anything to go by, many of them will significantly enhance their value, whatever the prevailing economic climate.

The Tip of the Iceberg

The home page of the Indicus Advisors' web site
Looks like a very simple little web site, doesn’t it? But the web site we created for Indicus Advisors is a little like the wardrobe door that leads to Narnia in the CS Lewis books; there’s a whole lot more than you would imagine behind that simple entrance.

The reason is that Indicus want to give information primarily to a select group of investors and potential investors, and to be recognised as a member of either group, you’ll need to apply to Indicus for a password which will give you access to the privileged areas in the site.

If you invest in one fund, then your password allows you access to information about it. Invest in more, and your password opens up more doors.

A site like this demands care in its creation and in its maintenance too. But it can pay important dividends (figuratively!) in building important links between a company and the people who really matter in the market.

Mid-Market Investors Get Web-Aware

Like many business-to-business companies, Inflexion know the importance of marketing, and marketing for this rapidly growing private equity company means two quite different things. First of all, they needed a shop window for their business, a place to show and explain what investments they are making and how they help companies to realise inherent or potential value. Then, they needed to make sure that their investors have access to information and know when important milestones are passed. The Inflexion web site helps do both. The public site showcases what the company offers and highlights their track record. A closed and password-protected area on the site gives investors access to the latest information on the funds in which they have invested. Finally, a tracking system provides the company with up to date information on where visitors to the site are going and the documents that investors like to download. If you’re thinking about private equity investment, check out Inflexion on www.inflexion.com. Smart identity too, isn’t it?
